Horn Classic F Series

Sale price$96 USD
Model:70F
Shank:American (US)
Finish:Silver
Quantity:

The Laskey F Series Horn Mouthpiece has a slightly deeper and more funnel-shaped cup than the G Series. The sound is thicker and rounder than the G Series, with the same precision of attack. The F Series works well for players with a naturally brilliant sound, who need to round-out their tonal palette, and is similar to a traditional Farkas model mouthpiece.

Featuring a unique rim contour that set the standard for modern day horn mouthpieces, the Laskey F Series rim shape allows for effortless flexibility, along with a high degree of control and accuracy. The rim contour is round with a definite high point towards the inner edge, providing clear articulation and precise slotting through the entire range.

All models are available in both American and European shanks. After testing numerous horn makes and models, two shank sizes were developed to meet the needs of a wide variety of lead pipes: American (US) shanks fit most American made and styled horns, while European (EU) shanks fit many European made and styled horns.

All Laskey F Series Horn Mouthpiece cup sizes are made with a standard throat size of .182”/(“14”)/4.62mm.

Laskey Horn Mouthpieces are listed by the approximate inside diameter metric measurement. If a mouthpiece measures 17.25mm on the ID, the size is the last two or three digits, or 725.

Note: Unless in stock, Gold Mouthpieces are made to order and are FINAL SALE with no trial period or returns. Please expect 4-6 months for delivery. For more information please contact us.

Customer photo review of Horn Classic F Series

The mouthpiece feels so much cleaner, softer, and more comfortable than any mouthpiece I’ve tried so far. As I try to grow as a student, I feel extremely satisfied knowing that Laskey will be my go-to mouthpiece brand from now on!

Customer photo review of Horn Classic F Series

I received my horn mouthpiece, 75F, just today and already love it. The response is far superior to any previous I've used and the tone is much improved. Articulation is easier and more fluid. I was looking for a darker tone color and the F series seems made for that quality.

Horn Classic F Series

Sorry I didn’t communicate sooner, but I was very sick early in the summer. As it turns out the mouthpiece is not playing the way the other Laskey of the same size that I have does. A friend of mine suggested that perhaps there is an older version which is what I had and then this one is a newer version, which is different. Either way I’m not thrilled.

Store owner replied: Hi Christina, I'm sorry to hear that this mouthpiece was not to your liking. Would you please contact us at sales@laskey.com with more details, I only see one order on file and perhaps we can look into this further?

I was impressed whith the container the mough piece was in...very cool. :-) The mouth piece seems to suit me well. I'm enjoying the sound...I feel a bit more vibration in my embechure. I play a Holton 281 and chose the F for it's matching to the Farkcas horn. I'm very pleased and look forward to playing with this wonderful addition to my collection.

Horn Classic F Series

Comfortable rim. Nice response in all registers.

Horn Classic F Series

It was a gift for my grandson who plays the French horn. He was very surprised and very happy.

Horn Classic F Series

I have only played on a Laskey 80G mouthpiece for years on a Holton H179 horn. Decided to give the 80F a try and am not disappointed. Gives a more mellow tone which is helpful for high notes but does not take away from accented attacks.

Horn Classic F Series

I'm very happy with the new mouthpiece.

Horn Classic F Series

It's my second Laskey F series mouthpiece and I love it. Thank you very much.

Horn Classic F Series

Tried the next size up from my previous Laskey and am liking the bigger sound and improved articulation.

Horn Classic F Series

It feels excellent on my lips. The packaging is adorable. I am very excited to begin my Laskey journey.

Horn Classic F Series

Laskey is a perfect match with my Alexander 103 goldbrass horn and with my embouchure! Currently using the 725F eu, I now ordered the E-series which is slightly deeper, hoping to improve the low register.

Horn Classic F Series

Love it. It's exactly what I was looking for.

Horn Classic F Series

This is what I'm looking for. I generally don't have trouble playing in the high register, and with my bright-toned Briz 2000sc, I've needed something to tame it's brilliance. The Laskey 85F helps me not only reel in my Forte's, but give me the open space to achieve the power in the low register that I typically struggle with.

Horn Classic F Series

Excellent mouthpiece. The quality is superb and the shipping was fast.

Horn Classic F Series

Notes on my Alexander 103 slot so much better with this mouthpiece than what I was using. I've played a Farkas model on my Conn 8D for decades, and this if this an equivalent, the Laskey mouthpiece feels even better than that. Thank you!

Horn Classic F Series

This new US 775F model horn mouthpiece, met all of my expectations. I have been playing on a US 775J Horn mouthpiece past 3 years. But a change in horn equipment recently, needed a better match. After trialing a colleagues US 775F for 3 weeks it was for me, a better match to the horn and my playing needs.

Horn Classic F Series

It's a pretty good mouthpiece I was just hoping to get a g series but they were out of stock.

Horn Classic F Series

Playing on a Conn 28D, James Patterson leadpipe and Atkinson last branch and bell. I tried out the 85E and 85F. I thought I was playing on a larger mouthpiece all these years, but was sorely mistaken. I always had a large LA style sound and noticed no difference with the transition. The American shank on the mouthpieces does not penetrate into the leadpipe as much as my old mouthpiece. Going from a 17mm rim to a 18.5mm (85) rim greatly smoothed out a large gear shift from mid to low register that I have been trying to overcome for years. The width of the rim was thinner than I preferred, but it is as thick as Laskey makes (25.27mm), the transition was not huge and I see no negative to the thinner rim as of yet. The depth of the F cup was inspiring in the low range. I did not gain extra range, but the sound was more solid and it was easier to play down there. That being said, I had to relearn my high register...I think my lip was using the top of the cup in my old mouthpiece to compensate. With this deeper cavern, I had to relearn some lip control. It has been just over a week and the high is settling in, better and more open (more ease in the sound) than it was before. Now going back to my old mouthpiece feels like I am playing with half the air! It is quite amazing. I will never go back! Note: I also tried the 85E, but the cup was too much for me and I saw no benefit in my accuracy or sound in the basement. I am curious if I should have tried the 85G also in order to keep my high range, but so far the transition is going well. I think I will stay where I am at the moment, as I am liking the sound.

Horn Classic F Series

This mouthpiece has a very comfortable rim. The sound is rich and mellow, with no harsh edge.

Horn Classic F Series

Had to switch to a euro shank for my Lidl compensator I just bought. My old 70G seemed a bit bright, even though the wrong shank size, so I gambled on the F cup and it seems perfect, so far. I’m so used the the Laskey rim, that I’m sure this will work out well.

Horn Classic F Series

Both 75G and 75F are especially great mouthpieces. I like the unique rim shape which gives my lower lips a great support in the high register without digging into the lips. With the F cup one needs to work out the core of the sound in the mid range a bit more than with the G cup, but gets a very clear and solid hight an full low register. The G cup allows the opening of the embochure to achieve a clear and ringing sound over the full range without losing the center of the tone. It can be played with even less effort than the F cup. Some of my horns match the G cup better, others the F cup. Thanks, Andreas

Horn Classic F Series

After purchasing the 775G I was curious to try the F type. The sound is really much more enveloping and deep, excellent for the bass horn profession. Now I am very curious to try the J cup to experiment on the high horn.

Horn Classic F Series

I got the Laskey 75F and decided that was the one after trying several mouthpieces because I loved how it felt and sounded. It responds well in all registers (even for super low pedals and high notes above the staff), the rim is super comfortable and very rounded, but still has very clean articulation. It has a nice big sound that is slightly brassy but still sounds nice and characteristic of French horn. What I like about Laskey mouthpieces is that they all have the same rim shape and cup shape, so you can customize to your needs what size and depth you want, and know that it’s the same feel and sound. Quality item! It does ship from Canada though which wasn’t clear when I ordered it, so if you’re in the US I would recommend buying from an authorized retailer in the US instead of the Laskey site.

Horn Classic F Series

Initially impressed, switching from a Farkas DC. Looking forward to spending more time with the mouthpiece.

Horn Classic F Series

Na jaren van zoeken heb ik eindelijk een mondstuk gevonden wat doet wat ik wil en niet andersom. Geweldig mondstuk.

Horn Classic F Series

Switching to this mouthpiece improved my accuracy, increased my volume and darkened the sound. I'm very happy with it

Horn Classic F Series

As always, excellent product designed by the late Scott Laskey and flawlessly executed by the (relatively) new owners. This is my 7th mouthpiece by Laskey, very pleased with these mouthpieces. I always recommend them to my colleagues, and to my students, as well.

Horn Classic F Series

Neither the 75G or the 75F work well in my Hoyer. To bright, even the F

Horn Classic F Series

Loving this mouthpiece. I have the E, F, and G and find them all well suited to my demands. Lovely sound, great flexibility and the clear articulations I’ve come to expect. Bravo!
