The Laskey J Series Horn Mouthpiece is slightly shallower than the G Series, while offering immediate attack with a rounder, sweeter sound. Slightly more conical in shape, Laskey J Series has all the brilliance and bite a player could want, making it an exceptional option for solo or high register playing.
Featuring a unique rim contour that set the standard for modern day horn mouthpieces, the Laskey J Series rim shape allows for effortless flexibility, along with a high degree of control and accuracy. The rim contour is round with a definite high point towards the inner edge, providing clear articulation and precise slotting through the entire range.
All models are available in both American and European shanks. After testing numerous horn makes and models, two shank sizes were developed to meet the needs of a wide variety of lead pipes: American (US) shanks fit most American made and styled horns, while European (EU) shanks fit many European made and styled horns.
All Laskey J Series Horn Mouthpiece cup sizes are made with a standard throat size of .182”/(“14”)/4.62mm.
Laskey Horn Mouthpieces are listed by the approximate inside diameter metric measurement. If a mouthpiece measures 17.25mm on the ID, the size is the last two or three digits, or 725.

Honestly, my first Laskey was the 75G, and I was really happy with its tone quality. But eventually, since I'm the principal horn player in the orchestra, I was looking for more security in the high register and I found exactly that with the Laskey 75J. Later on, I reached a point where I wanted more room for my lips to move inside the rim, so I decided to order the 775J. The results blew me away my tone gained even more brilliance, and the tonal center became so much clearer. That's why I'm planning to get the 80J next. I'm just super happy with Laskey mouthpieces. I'm really glad I found a mouthpiece with a level of quality that truly stands out from the other brands I've used before.
Absolutely loving my new 825J, I have a more secure high range without losing anything. It is very efficient and comfortable and responds the way I have come to expect from Laskey mouthpieces. Highly recommend.
A Great mp! Increased core to the sound from the G. The J adds ease to the high register. However, you lose some flexibility in the low that is more afforded with the depth of a G cup.
I’ve played horn for years and I’ve never shopped for a new mouthpiece. I bought a “beater” horn which ended up being an incredible 1955 Conn 8D but it came without a mouthpiece. So my horn coach suggested this Laskey mouthpiece. I love it and I plan to order another for my “good” horn.

Thank you so much for choosing Laskey, Gary!
There is one word that always comes to mind with my 3 different Laskey mouthpieces. Comfortable. Something about the rim design is just so comfortable!
Compared to my G and E cups, the J has a nice bright punchy sound. Easy to play and especially handles well in the high register.
For reference: I'm a community band level player with only a handful of years on horn.
Great mouthpiece, and helps a lot with the high register while being versatile enough to allow for all registers to shine. Works great with my Ricco Kuhn horn, and I’d definitely recommend for Geyer wraps!
It’s still a little too early to tell for sure because right now my embouchure is not up to shape to make a good judgement but so far I like it. It does allow me a flexible range so that’s good. Just not used to it in the upper register yet.
Longtime Laskey player (actually stopped by Scott’s home shop while visiting family in Chicago years ago). Thanks for keeping the brand consistent with his legacy and standards.
Very glad to have this option for higher passages on my Alexander 103. Thank you for making this in a European shank, and I look forward to many years of use.
My 75G is the best mouthpiece I have ever used for articulation, tone, and accuracy but I needed better high range and endurance. The 725F is the perfect complex to it.
I was looking for an American shank mouthpiece for my newly purchased CONN 8DS.
Your product sounds much better than other companies' products, and I was so impressed that I decided to purchase it.
I am very satisfied.
I feel that it gives my playing a brassier sound. It definitely lets me add a few notes to my low end, without sacrificing much if anything on my top end.
I'm very glad I made this purchase.
As always, the Laskey rim is what makes all of the cups succeed. A great design, allowing a secure, controllable attack with enough vibration clearance for considerable endurance.
Laskey mouthpieces are consistent and reliable. I’ve tried dozens of other mouthpieces, and nothing is as comfortable or as playable as the Laskeys I’ve owned. The 775J plays evenly across the range of the horn with a sweetness to the sound that I haven’t found in any other mouthpiece I’ve played.
I play principal horn in orchestra and for me the G series is good in all range however the J series is more solid centered sound and it’s easy to play on high register.
Laskey mouthpieces are my new go-to for their reliability and quality. The Laskey G series serves me very well, and I wanted to try using a J series for a change and to explore what I enjoy the best.
Laskey is a great company! I had a problem with my order and they resolved it in a quick and professional manner. I got to try out a total of 4 Horn mouthpieces: 70G, 725G, 725J, and 725F. Of all of these, I really liked the way the 725G and 725J respond in all registers. All 4 mouthpieces had the same rim, so switching between mothpieces gives me consistent play and feel while only changing one parameter: the cup shape. The 70G did feel a bit tight, but the 725G gave me the perfect amount of room to play in all registers. Quality and finish are nice, and the sound is much smoother and richer with these mouthpieces as opposed to many others I've tried! The G mouthpieces give even a smoother sound than the rest. The J mouthpiece has amazing response up high, and not too bad on the low range. In terms of quality of sound and playability in general, I liked the G series the most, though I kept a J series as well for high technical parts. Great company, I would recommend looking into these!
I love my Laskey 775J! Initially I bought it to improve my power in the low register, but I was happy to discover that it is great in all registers. I use it for everything now. It gives a beautiful, dark tone that makes it easy to match my section. It gives clear articulations and doesn't back up on me when I'm putting lots of air through the horn.
